Class 1 Experience and Equivalency Program

We are one of the most recognized institutes in Alberta, offering unmatched credibility. The Experience and Equivalency Program for Class 1 consists of a total of 40 hours, including:
- Classroom Training
- In-Yard Training
- In-Cab Training
Flexible training schedules are available, allowing you to continue working while preparing for your professional driving career.

- The written exam must be completed before booking your road test.
- The written exam can be taken at any registry office.
Course Eligibility
To enroll in the Experience and Equivalency Class 1 Program, drivers must meet the following criteria:
- Hold a valid Alberta Class 3 driver's license.
- Have at least two (2) years of experience holding a Class 3 license (or equivalent from another Canadian province).
- Provide a driver's abstract if experience was gained in another Canadian jurisdiction.
- Have a minimum of two (2) years of work experience operating a single motor vehicle with three (3) or more axles.
Proof of Work Experience (Any One Required):
- Employer letter confirming at least two years of experience (must include contact details).
- Customer or supplier letter confirming services using a vehicle with 3+ axles for at least two years.
- A daily logbook covering a two-year period as per official regulations.
Program Steps & Pricing
Step 1: Experience and Equivalency Program
Fee: $4000
Starting April 2025, all drivers upgrading from Class 3 to Class 1 must complete this program.
Step 2: Competence Program
Fee: $2500
This final phase includes 17–25 hours of in-cab training.
After completion, participants must pass a road test conducted by a certified training provider to receive a Class 1 license without restrictions.
Note: Fees do not include:
- Government testing fees
- Road test permit fees
- Driver medical fees
